At the time of writing an petition is circulating asking the Environment Agency to remove Southern Water’s permit to discharge sewerage into Langstone Harbour.
It’s no secret the amount of waste water ending up in Langstone during heavy downpours when storage tanks overflow. There have been numerous instances where effluent has been spotted in the harbour and unsanitary waste has ended up on beaches. With £10m worth of improvements now completed at the Eastney plant residents argue there’s little reason to keep Southern Water’s permit in place.
As of March 13 the e-petition currently has 100 signatures. If you would like to add yours then follow the link – www.change.org/p/environment-agency-stop-southern-water-pouring-sewage-into-langstone-harbour?recruiter=186405531&fb_ref=Default
