Although the wind refused to blow hard there was still much to celebrate and get involved with at this years National Watersports Festival.
Making the journey to West Beachlands hordes of visitors soaked up the atmosphere and indulged in multiple saltwater activities. Breeze may have been lacking but battles were still fought as windsurfers pumped their way round the course under the glare of late summer sunshine.
Conditions throughout Saturday and Sunday were perfect for kayaking and stand up paddle boarding – all demo kit being in constant rotation. Taking the opportunity to test out brand new toys or try SUP/kayaking for the first time paddlers from all walks of life took to the brine for a float.
Kiters and windsurfers finally got their chance to throw down some moves during the night competitions which featured a mind boggling array of sliding and aerial trickery performed under floodlights. Live entertainment then had revellers hitting the dance floor for some serious partying into the small hours. The trade marque had a steady stream of punters checking out the latest watersports toys while others simply lounged on the shingle topping up vitamin D levels.
Whatever your watery preference there was something on offer. Even if conditions werent favourable for your watersport of choice there was ample opportunity to try something new or just sit back and take in the view.
Hopefully NWF will back bigger and better in 2015. In the meantime you can see more pics and vids from the weekend on the National Watersports Facebook page www.facebook.com/WatersportsFestival
