Pick up or Pay up is the message for those that leave our streets a mess
A crackdown on littering the streets of Havant Borough is set to start. Previously Havant Borough Council have been eager to education those that drop litter or leave their dogs mess behind.
But a new approach of Pick up or Pay up is about to begin when Environment Rangers take to the streets of Havant Borough with the instruction to issue a Fixed Penalty Notice to anyone found to be littering.
Littering comes in many forms from crisp packets and sweet wrappers to cigarette butts and dog fouling.
Councillor Mike Fairhurst responsible for Operational Services said Havant Borough Council work hard to maintain the cleanliness of the borough spending over 700000 on street cleaning annually and with over two thousand litter bins across the borough there is no excuse.
Anyone dropping litter or not cleaning up after their dog will get an on-the-spot fine. We have informed and warned but now its time to get tough.”
