Second World War RAF pilot Donald Hill recorded his experiences in a coded diary while detained in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. University maths student Louise Helyer from Gosport spotted her lecturer Dr Philip Aston had decoded the diary after seeing his work on line.
The stories contained in the manuscript have now been turned into a musical which will be showing at the Station Theatre next month. Andro Linklater who sadly died last year had written up the diary as a book which Louise then adapted as a musical.
Showings will take place between September 3-6 and tickets will be 10. For further info see hayling-dramatics.hampshire.org.uk.
