If youre quick youll be able to spot the giant gingerbread man thats currently guarding the entrance to Hayling Hardware Elm Grove. Crafty Turners a group set up in Farlington six years ago by Mike Giles decided to go ahead and make the character even in the absence of this years Hayling Scarecrow Festival.
The craft group that are made up of a dozen or so children meet in Havant where theyre always putting their crafty skills to good use.
In an effort to inspire others to build their own the group have also cheekily added a first prize lollipop to the structure. Luke Tuffs a 10 year old from Farlington said: We decided we still wanted to make a scarecrow.
Weve never won before and because we are technically the only ones to enter we have put a first prize sign on it. We hope we might inspire other people to build one.
The Hayling Scarecrow organisers are taking a break this year to decide if theres enough interest to keep the event going.
For those wishing to see the giant gingerbread man then youll need to get a glimpse quick as its only on display for a limited period of time.
