Hayling College has been recognised for its work with reducing underage drinking on the island and has received an Excellence Award for efforts to date.
The school has been a key partner in delivering the Hayling Island Community Alcohol Partnership message since its launch. Aiming to cut down underage drinking and anti-social behaviour; local stakeholders retailers licensees trading standards police community safety organisations health services and education providers are all in the mix to help reduce the problem.
The chief executive of CAPS Miles Beale said: The CAP is acknowledged as the major contributing factor in a 41-per-cent decrease in anti-social behaviour together with a reduction in reports of under-18s drinking in public and the Hayling College was the heart of the project.
I am delighted Hayling College has won this award.
Lower school director Helen Cox added: It is also testimony to the young people of Hayling Island whose involvement and commitment have also contributed to this success.
