Schools on Hayling are being affected today by the widely reported industrial strike action taken by teachers across the UK. The Hayling College and Mill Rythe Infant schools are closed as teaching professionals protest against changes to their pensions workloads and the proposal to introduce performance related pay.
Mengham Infants Mengham Juniors and Mill Rythe Juniors remain open.
Teachers who are striking in the area are planning a march through the city centre in Portsmouth which will begin at mid-day. The procession will start outside Debenhams in Commercial Road.
The strike is only planned for today tomorrow will see schools open as normal.
