The Hayling Islander recently reported that Sarah Snowden a one time resident recently took on the mammoth challenge of swimming the 12 mile distance between Lundy Island and Hartland on the North Devon coast.
With a 4 knot tide and a daunting open sea Sarah 46 completed the challenge in six and a half hours raising 136.60 in the process.
When asked the reason for the swim she commented: I was running a family pub and two close colleagues and a family friend were ill with cancer.
I got very angry with the world and decided to channel my anger into something positive.
Sarah owns a house on Hayling and lived here for many years. This was one of the reasons she decided to give her donation to Hayling RNLI Lifeboat Station.
Jonathan Bradbury from the Hayling station said: We admire Sarahs spirit in swimming so far for charity and will put her donation to good use.
