The Virgin Kitesurfing Amanda will be out in force this weekend in an attempt to break a world record set on Hayling Island last year. Over 500 kitesurfers are expected to take part in an epic group event specifically an armada of kite surfers riding together from Hayling Island to Pagham (if weather conditions allow) 15 miles away.
The armada forms only part of the event. In addition there will be a festival providing Q&A sessions with professional kitesurfers live music bars and family areas. The event is set to be a memorable one!
The event is planned annually for one of three weekends so that those attending can make use of the most suitable weather. This weekend was the third in the schedule and the event will be attended by the Mayor of Havant Councillor Majorie Smallcorn.

The Virgin Kitesurfing Armada provides fundraising support for three charities. Snow-Camp is an innovative youth charity that uses a unique combination of skiing snowboarding and life-skills programmes to support inner-city young people. Virgin Unite is the independent charitable arm of the Sir Richard Bransons Virgin Group and the RNLI provides a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and a seasonal lifeguard service.
Havant Borough Council provides the land required for the event to take place. It is a pleasure for Havant Borough Council to support such an impressive and charitable endeavour said Councillor Yvonne Weeks Cabinet Lead for Economy and Communities. the event not only provides Hayling Island with the recognition it deserves as a premier kitesurfing venue but a chance to improve its standing in the Record Books!
