A recent police report states rural areas such as Hayling Island and wildlife are on Hampshire Constabularys list of priorities. A team of country watch officers are already in operation with 600 more recently trained to deal with these types of crime.

Hampshire Constabulary want to close the current void of unsolved cases between urban and rural communities. The National Wildlife Crime Unit will also be involved where applicable. Poaching habitat disturbance and species persecution all fall under scrutiny and will be monitored and dealt with accordingly.

In a survey put out by World Animal Protection the county is mentioned as a well performing area when it comes to protecting wildlife. Hampshire police and crime commissioner Simon Hayes says the survey is welcome.
