This weekends Model Railway Show at the Hayling Island Community Centre and Steam Day at the Hayling Seaside Railway. Organised by the railways volunteers as their contribution to the Haylings BEST Community Groups Hayling Billy 50 programme of events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the closure of the Havant – Hayling Island branch line. Has been in all respects a resounding success with the show hall itself Hayling Billy Lament steam train service between Beachlands and Eastoke Corner and linking vintage bus service operated by local bus preservationists. All comfortably full throughout the weekend.
Following many requests by show visitors and exhibitors the shows organisers are considering the possibility of a repeat of the event in 2014 or possibly 2015. In the meantime our next event will be Winter Seaside Steam featuring steam locomotive Wendy in steam on the weekend of 21st and 22nd December plus Christmas Eve and New Years Day. With childrens favourite Jack the Seaside Engine operating trains on other selected dates throughout the school holiday season.
