Over the next few days approximately 25000 tonnes of Larvic Granite from Norway will start to be unloaded onto the beach at Eastoke Point Hayling Island. The rock will be used to create a new revetment as part of the 5million Eastoke Point Coastal Defence Scheme.
The Stema Barge which is due to make three large deliveries over the coming months will be moored offshore before the rock is then transferred to the beach by a smaller barge Charlie Rock. This will land on the foreshore day and night during every high tide for approximately 8 days.
Each of the three barge deliveries will carry approximately 5500 rocks;
