Hayling Islands rural business community is set to gain significantly after a cash grant has been made available to the Local Action Group (LAG) covering the island.

The Department for Food and Rural Affairs set up its LEADER programme and Local Action Group initiative for community volunteers involved in rural economic activities. Made of up farmers foresters and countryside organisation representatives LAG volunteers are a voice for this sector of Haylings economy.

Although under West Sussex County Councils jurisdiction the 3.2m windfall will allow new jobs to be created and Haylings rural economy to grow. Money allocated by the EU to the LEADER and LAG programme will help develop and sustain a vibrant and thriving community in this sector.
