With Easter fast approaching the annual Round Hayling Island Good Friday event featuring windsurfing stand up paddle boarding and outrigger canoeing is gearing up to host hundreds of enthusiasts ready to do battle with Mother Nature.

The 14 mile circumnavigation of Hayling is a tradition stretching back to the 80s. Over the years the Round Hayling Event has seen sustained popularity with riders from all over the UK heading to the island to take part. For many it signals the start of summer watersports in the UK.

This year sees the gatherings organisation overseen by SailRacer whove been pushing things in the media so much so that Porstmouth News reporter Jeff Marshman was enticed onto the water to learn how to SUP. Karl Cadwallader from Jobe SUP UK took Jeff out for his first forays into the sport during the official media launch last Friday. It wasnt long before Jeff was covering ground.

During Good Friday SUP equipment will be available for visitors to hire from the SUP Company ensuring the iconic event can be enjoyed by all.

For those undertaking the circumnavigation on whatever craft riders choose SailRacer will be tracking entrants progress. There will be drones (provided by LPB Imagery) following competitors along the route with images broadcast online. 2015s Round Hayling Event will be the first time new technology has been employed to make the experience truly interactive.

Once the on water action has been completed there will be prize giving with Action Van donating the prizes followed by evening entertainment inside HISC providing a fitting end to what should be a great day.
