As many will be aware the clocks change at the weekend signaling longer daylight hours and hopefully an improvement in the weather.
Mentioned yesterday is the Hayling watersports bonanza happening this Easter weekend which for many islanders signals the start of prime season for messing about in the sea.
Moving forwards Steve Barrow Hayling Island resident Andy Biggs Watersports employee and all round H2O aficionado is going to be running a regular but informal get together at Beachlands for stand up paddle boarders and kayakers. Steve told us that the meets will rotate between Monday and Wednesday evenings although a time is still to be decided. There will be informal beach races possibly some wave action dependent on the sea state and maybe the odd circumnavigation of the island weather conditions and tides permitting.
Not having your own gear is no excuse for not getting involved as Andy Biggs Watersports will be loaning out limited amounts of kit – although it is recommended that you should bring your own if you can. You can call the shop in advance if you want to try and reserve equipment – this will be done on a first come first served basis. A rental fee will be applicable although the first meet will feature free rental to kick things off.
This is great news for those looking at getting involved in some kind of watersport over the summer months.
