Display pieces for the 70th anniversary exhibition commemorating Haylings involvement with the D-Day landings are being curated by island resident Leslie Kelly. Shes keen to hear from anyone who has information regarding Hayling and how it played a key role in preparations.

For those not aware the seafront saw beach landing drills practiced in front of the Royal Hotel troops were stationed at Northney craft was constructed in Sparkes Boatyard and the ingenious Mulberry Harbour (floating concrete platform) was assembled here. As part of the Memories are made of this exhibition the indelible mark left on Hayling is unquestionable.

The exhibition will be at Hayling Library and is part of a wider string of events in tribute to the men and women who fought and provided service during this time of turmoil.
