Starting at Sandy Point Hayling Island 50 people took on the challenge of paddling the entire 18 mile circumference of Haylings shoreline in an effort to raise money for the RNLI and Hampshire fire fighters.

Event organiser Perry Dobson described how on water conditions were lovely and the hot weather only added to the days success.

The second year the paddle challenge has been run; kayakers spooned round the island in anti-clockwise fashion taking in iconic Hayling sites such as Langstone Bridge and boats moored at Eastney Point.

All paddlers were then treated to a slap up BBQ afterwards.

Last years challenge raised 2500 but the target for this year is aiming for 4000.

Hayling station watch manager Mark Pannell said: We are doing it because last year was really successful and we raised more than 2500 for charity.

Its one of those things that if you have never done it its a bit of an experience.

You see parts of Hayling Island that you have never seen before. Because you are doing it as part of a team its good feeling when you all complete it.
