Sailing mum Anne Marie Wood has been Rear Commodore of the HISC Youth Committee for the last two years and was always keen on getting more children involved in sailing and watersports. Through her dedication and hard work Anne Marie has helped broaden the sports appeal and helped implement new child friendly initiatives at the club.
SEALS was set up in 2008 and formed part of the youth progression programme by offering a fun and informal pathway for those not concerned with racing. Activities arent necessarily dinghy led kids can get on the water using any type of water craft. Stand up paddle boards kayaks canoes windsurfing kit and boats are all fair game.
Anne Marie says shes extremely proud of her SEALS initiative and hopes it will last for many more years. Ultimately the sailing mum just wants more kids involved with sport and decided to take the bull by the horns.
