Havant Borough Council has frozen its share of the Council Tax bill for the fifth successive year.
It will mean Havant Borough Councils portion of the Council Tax for a Band D property will remain at 192.78.
Councillors agreed the move at this years budget meeting that took place last night (Wednesday 19 February 2014).
At the same time as announcing the freeze Havant Borough Council Leader Councillor Tony Briggs recapped the successes of the past year and looked ahead to the councils future.
He said In 2009 our annual budget stood at 18.6m now it has been reduced to 14.4m. It is a huge decrease in budget and has been brought about without any impact on frontline services. That is an incredible achievement and one we are rightly proud of.
We have been able to do this only because of the bold changes we have made to the way we run how we look at problems and how we find solutions.
In his budget speech to councillors he said: We must ask ourselves fundamental questions about what our council is for. What do our residents want from us? How are we going to provide it to them? As people change the way they think about their local council and the way they want their services delivered we will have to change too. Local
Government is evolving at speed and we must adapt if we are to continue to inform public behaviour and reflect public demand.
We must also continue our work to find the right ways to provide the right services to our residents and we must not be afraid to abandon old methods and embrace new ideas to do it.
This is the fifth year in a row we have managed not to increase Council Tax a huge achievement in these times.
