It was a busy weekend for Haylings RNLI lifeboat crew. Saturday saw a distress call put out regarding a 44ft yacht which had collided with a fishing boat at anchor. Although no injuries were reported the lifeboat was scrambled for crew to help and assess damage. Although this was extensive it wasnt causing either boat to take on water. No casualties were reported.

Later the same day six rowers got in difficulties after being swamped with water. The rowing boat was part of the round island gig race but conditions bestacnedrug.com were tough with a stiff westerly breeze making the seafront leg arduous. As the rowers tried to make headway across the Winner Sandbank swell started to wash into the boat even though the crew were bailing like mad.

When lifeboat crew arrived on the scene they found a completely water logged gig rowing boat and a very cold and tired bunch of rowers. They were swiftly repatriated to Haylings lifeboat station for tea and warmth while their craft was recovered.
