Police are looking into the cause of a car fire that was set ablaze in the Beachlands area yesterday evening. Some residents reported hearing loud bangs as the vehicle exploded.
Six firefighters from Hayling were sent tackle the fire with two having to wear breathing apparatus while extinguishing the flames.
A 999 call was logged at 22:40 but and the burning car doused by 23:20 after a prompt and efficient emergency services team arrived on the scene. There will now be an investigation to determine whether there was any malicious intent involved.
