East Hayling residents have been asking questions about a mystery jet flying low over the island yesterday.
Thanks to local photographer Mike Owens ( www.mikeowensphotography.com) the mystery had be solved – in part at least:
“I just happened to have a decent telephoto lens with me and I can reveal its was an Oil Spill Response aircraft. You can even see the dispersal chemical spray nozzles suspended under the engines! ”
Some sleuthing by locals over on our Facebook Page that the plane is a 727 based at Lasham that will be replacing a C130 that tackles oil spills. The 727 is currently undertaking trials before being put into service. Those interested might want to find out more from the Oil Spill Response website.
