Mill Rythe Infant School recently celebrated Childrens Book Week with an Alice in Wonderland day which saw teachers dressed as their favourite characters from the much loved Lewis Carroll book.

Pupils were also encouraged to don costumes with inspiration coming from Harry Potter and Roald Dahls Matilda.

Year 2 literacy teacher Charlotte Tighe said: Its been absolutely fantastic. The feedback we have had from parents has been amazing. Weve had a really big turnout for all the events. The school hall was transformed into Wonderland which featured Cheshire Cats playing cards and games.

The book week celebrated reading with numerous sessions with parents being invited to take part. A readathon competition with prizes for the most read and most improved child rounded off proceedings.
