Bands and performing artists based within 30 miles of the Butserfest site are being invited to apply to play on the Quay West Studios Introducing stage on Saturday 13 September.

The competition continues the festivals support for local artists irrespective of their musical genre and will add a third stage to the festival this year.

Applications will be narrowed down to a shortlist of 20 acts that will be reduced to 12 by a judging panel and public vote.

All 12 bands that make the final lineup will play on the stage but the running order of the stage will be decided by ticket sales. Acts will be given codes to track how many of their fans have bought tickets to the festival. The highest selling band or artist will headline the Introducing stage and earn a place on the main stage at Butserfest 2015.

The headlining band will also have opportunities for free recording time at Quay West Studios in Gosport merchandise from the festival and a slot at a special gig organised by Quay West Studios.

Successful acts will join the most impressive Butserfest lineup yet which includes: co-headliners The Blackout and Kids In Glass Houses; Feed the Rhino; Blitz Kids; I Divide; Tek-One; Sonic Boom Six; The Hype Theory; Aurora; Black Futures; Emp!re; TRC; Gnarwolves; Baby Godzilla; Astroid Boys; The Catharsis; A Tale of Two Cities; Our Hollow Our Home.

Councillor Ferris Cowper Leader of East Hampshire District Council and Butserfest founder said: “For every big famous band there are hundreds of less well known acts that are creating amazing music but dont get the profile of the Foo Fighters or Muse. The Quay West Introducing stage is our way to provide an opportunity for local unsigned acts to play a big festival and expand the popularity of their band. The other prizes that bands could win like free studio recording time could be a big step on the way to world superstardom.”

Butserfest is an alcohol/drug-free music festival aimed at young people and organised by East Hampshire District Council in partnership with Southampton Solent University.

Staff and students from Southampton Solent Universitys Technology School Media Technology courses will be using their knowledge skills and state-of-the-art equipment to make sure that the sound lighting and technical operations of the Alternative Stage at Butserfest 2014 are the best yet.
