Splodge Designs an art group from Hayling Island helped to organise in conjunction with Hayling College Hayling Island Carers Club and Gorseway Residential Home a group workshop who have produced a display capturing the history of Haylings seafront.

Using items collected from the shoreline the homage features beautifully decorated miniature beach huts sand and shells that represent memories and images from the island and figures of people relaxing at the beach.

Paul Jones from Splodge Designs explained how the group wanted to make something that summed up the heritage of the island and with so many memories to call on the group have managed to capture the spirit of Hayling perfectly.

One resident June McCloud 99 who was involved with the project said: I think the display is wonderful. We helped take apart last years project so we could use the materials for the beach huts and we put the huts roofs and doors on.

The display is currently being exhibited at Haylings Station Theatre but will move to Southsea to be part of the Southsea Show on August 3 4. It then moves to Winchester and will sit as part of archives permanently and be combined with recorded interviews of memories from the island
