Preparation for a major sea defence shore up scheme in the Eastoke area of island is set to get underway with the main work beginning in May.
Havant Borough Council have appointed Raymond Brown Construction Ltd as the contractor. The firm will be replacing old timber groynes with rock ones and refurbishing the existing concrete wall at the back of the promenade.
Work is hopefully going to be completed by late October but this is dependent on weather conditions.
During the work the majority of the beach at Eastoke will remain open to the general public however for health and safety reasons areas that are under construction will be temporarily closed.
