Necessary road works next to the Ship Inn Langstone Road the only route on and off Hayling Island are now expected to continue until October 12. Traffic delays of up to an hour have been reported during recent days mainly in the direction heading off the island.
The works have been ongoing to repair the weather beaten asphalt and prepare it for the coming winter and subsequent bouts of extreme weather that are becoming more common in the UK. Unfortunately the road works have overrun and will now cause a few more days of congestion for travellers attempting to get off the island. Initially they were only scheduled for eight consecutive nights.
