RAF Typhoon planes were scrambled to action as a pair of Russian military aircraft flew along the south coast on Wednesday. Although there is no threat the flypast caused disruption to the flights leaving and arriving in the UK.
Its been reported that this type of activity from Russia is slowly increasing with some commentators suggesting this latest incident is linked to the Litvinenko inquiry.
Alexander Litvinenko was a former KGB agent who defected to MI6 and died from radiation poisoning in 2006. The inquiry began this week.
The government summoned Russias ambassador account for the incident.
