The plan to move Haylings police office to the library has been rubbished by Councillor Andy Lenaghan. This wont be open to the public and the lack of access is the reason for criticism. Cllr Lenaghan believes local police should be available to speak to. He made it clear he wasnt against the idea of a move but he also doesnt think a closed off back office is the best solution.

In answer to Cllr Lenaghan Inspector Dave Humphries thinks the Hayling West representatives remarks are unfair as the current police building is unfit for purpose. He also added that budgets dont allow for manned stations to be open 24/7. Instead more efficient uses of funds has to be found.

The public will be able to access Haylings police through regular beat surgeries and the planned move is scheduled for autumn.
