Along with other local authorities across the country Havant Borough Council have been informed by the trade unions Unison and Unite that it is their intention to take industrial action for fairer pay.
The national strike day is planned for Thursday 10 July. While it is not possible to judge exactly what impact the strike may have on council services every action will be taken to keep any disruption to a minimum.
There may be a possible disruption to key frontline services including rubbish recycling and garden waste collections street cleansing and grounds maintenance services across the Borough of Havant on the day of strike action.
Residents are advised to put out their relevant bin as normal on their collection day. Should the bin not be collected residents are to continue to put out their bins each morning by 7am until they are collected. It is anticipated that all bins will be collected by Wednesday 16 July.
Councillor Tony Briggs responsible for Operational Services said As some council staff may take part in the strike action we have put in place plans to minimise the disruption that may be caused to essential services.
Staff who take strike action will not be paid for that day.
