Eight days of strikes are set to take place after The Fire Brigades Union took the decision to escalate industrial action. Pension and retirement age proposals are being blamed for the situation. The FBU is negotiating with government officials to avoid the new plans. They say if implemented firefighters will end up paying more working longer and receiving less.
Hampshire fire service is reassuring everyone that emergency calls will still be responded to and operations will continue as normal. Although theyre asking the public to take extra care during this time and help reduce calls.
Strike dates and timings will be: July 14 to July 17 from 6am to 8am and 5pm to 7pm July 18 from 6am to 8am and 11pm to 1am from 11am to 1pm and 11pm to 1am on July 19 and 5pm to 7pm on Sunday July 20. 6am to 8am and 5pm to 7pm on July 22.
