With a weather flow that is currently at odds with the March average were expected to be hit with yet another Arctic blast. Many residents will be opting for the warmth and shelter of their homes rather than venturing outside.

Winter looks set to linger into next week and many holiday and tourist businesses on Hayling will be fearing the worst as the imminent Easter Bank Holiday looms.

March 2013 has been officially the coldest for 50 years which is in stark contrast to last years balmy 20C heatwave.

Hayling residents can count their blessings however as further up country is predicted to be even harder hit with eight inches of snow expected to fall everywhere north of the M4 corridor. North west England North Wales and Scotland are bracing themselves as the Met Office has issued severe weather warning for these areas.

James Wilby a Meteogroup forecaster said: It is really just nasty conditions across most of the UK. The snow will fall from the M4 northwards quite lightly in the south but heavily in the north. Along with the heavy rain and flooding in the South West there will no doubt be a lot of disruption for the UK. Im sorry to say that there is no sign of things getting any better next week its going to remain cold and bleak.
