Hayling residents who regularly commute along the A27 could be at risk from potholes along the busy dual carriageway.
The stretch between Emsworth and the Fishbourne roundabout has reportedly become worse recently. Drivers are now regularly seen trying to avoid these ruts at speed which has led to fears of accidents if vehicle control is lost. Punctured tyres could also be a problem especially during the winter months where driving conditions can be even more difficult.
The Highways Agency has issued reassurances that where safety is of imminent concern repairs will take place usually within 24 hours.
