Moms dads nans granddads in fact everyone are being asked to sign up for a charity abseiling event taking place September 14 at the five storey Ward Court building.

The abseil is to raise money for the refurbishment of play parks on the island that are in desperate need of a facelift.

So far only a handful of people have registered and 250 participants are needed for the event to go ahead.

Councillors Leah Turner Andy Lenaghan David Collins and Gerry Shimbart will all be showing support and heading over the precipice and theyll be in good company with 99 year old Daring Doris also taking part.

For anyone thinking of having a go then full training and equipment will be provided.

Abseils will take place between 8am and 7pm on the day and registration costs 5. People must then commit to raising at least 10 in sponsorship. Forms can be obtained by emailing leahturner2009@hotmail.co.uk or calling 02392 465400. Collection will then be from Hayling Community Centre.
