Saturday April 27 will see firefighters from Emsworth and Hayling hauling a 10-tonne fire engine in aid of two charities Love Light Romania and the Firefighters charity.
With the help of members of Hayling Island Football Club Portsmouth College and South Downs College the truck will be pulled along the seafront from the funfair to the Inn on the Beach and back again. The team of haulers will be 30 strong and all vowing to make sure the challenge is completed.
Firefighter and organiser Perry Dodgson crew manager at Emsworth Fire Station is remaining positive. He said: Itll be hard work but as long as theres not too much headwind along the seafront then Im sure we can do it.
Perry also explained a little about Love Light Romania: Love Light Romania is a small charity that built a sanctuary near Transylvania in 2003.
Since then it has been in a constant battle against the HIV epidemic which has swept across Romanian orphanages and infected thousands of innocent children. Love Light Romania provides essential care for children suffering from HIV or Aids as well as support for the families affected.
Its an ideal opportunity to identify the football clubs and students as role models for other children and also for those watching.
By doing the engine pull were really hoping to raise awareness of the charities.
It will be a great day and I hope everyone turns out to show support.
