Can You Help ?
Seventy years ago on 6 June 1944 D-Day took place.
Prior to this the whole area was a hive of activity as the intricate preparations were made.
Landing Craft were built at Sparkes Boatyard mock-invasions took place on the beach where the Royal Hotel once was. Troops were billeted in Northney.
These are facts we know. What we dont know is what memories anyone has of that time.

Why ?
Its for a major commemoration project taking place throughout the Borough of Havant which at that time had barely 30000 inhabitants. Many have since gone and new incumbents are here who know little if anything of what took place.
