Work is now underway to replenish diminished shingle supplies along the Eastoke beachfront. Each year Havant Borough Council work with contractors to manage the coastal erosion and flood risks along the seafront and ensure Hayling is prepared for winter weather.

Expected to last three weeks work to build up the shingle crest along Eastoke will involve heavy machinery moving material back to where deposits have been lost to the sea. Coastal flooding is an ever present danger along Haylings seafront especially during winter when storms are more prevalent.

Shingle this year is being moved from around Eastoke Point and from larger deposits along Beachlands. A portion of material will also be transported from a local aggregate supplier while the last batch will be dredged from the seabed and sprayed directly onto the beach.

Access will remain for the public during the period the work is taking place.
