Having been closed for over a month the Hayling Ferry could see a revival. An important and well used link between Eastney and Hayling the ferrys previous owners went into administration after owing an estimated 107000 to Burgess Marine for engineering works.
The Hayling Ferry had also been dogged by problems prior to its closing with crossings regularly cancelled. The company was also fined 12000 last year for carrying too many passengers.
Its understood a local community group and Middle Eastern businessman are looking into getting things back on track. The group is thought to be considering taking on the existing boat while a Qatar based businessman would look to bring in a new boat rather than bidding for the existing vessel.
Councillor Andy Lengahan says hes been in contact with both interested parties and is fairly confident progress can be made getting the ferry reinstated.
