Southern Water has released a statement regarding a line of high tide sewage waste being washed up inside Langstone Harbour.

According to the company cotton buds and sanitary junk was the result of stormwater being released from the emergency outfall at Fort Cumberland.
A spokeswoman regrettably admitted that the overspill hadnt received adequate screening due to ongoing issues at the plant. Screens were damaged during the winters severe weather causing the them to fail. Southern Water apologised for the incident and said they were conducting a clean up operation.

This is the second such sewage issue in the area since the beginning of the year. Hayling.co.uk reported a problem back in February which you can read by following this link https://hayling.co.uk/news/story1762.html

Southern Water is working on a 10m scheme to rebuild the site and make it more robust and less susceptible to failing.
