Having fought hard to win recognition as a bona fide facility for the islands BMX/MTB fraternity the Hayling dirt jumps behind the Station Theatre is now looking to set up a new user group.
Councillor Andy Lenaghan of Hayling West recently put out a Facebook message (www.facebook.com/HaylingYourPointOfView) asking for regular bikers to step forward and become part of the initiative. He states that its a chance for youngsters to develop leadership skills get involved with the local community and invites people to get in touch.
There has been a user group set up in the past but this is a new idea. Continuing the monitoring maintenance and general up keep of the area is key to ongoing success. The Hayling dirt jumps get quite busy at times especially during summer months and ownership of the site needs to taken on to keep it a quality set up.
Cllr Lenaghan said: Any person interested please message me through the Hayling Forum or Facebook. It is an important local amenity which was built by the community but it has to continue to be self managed
