For anyone that hadnt already noticed Beachlands is currently a hub of activity with flags flying marquees being erected (the odd power cable being severed oops!) and the majority of the UKs watersports industry getting ready to welcome hundreds of enthusiasts this weekend.

Featuring windsurf racing and demos stand up paddle board competitions and instruction kayak taster sessions and kitesurfing displays; NWF 2013 looks set to be the biggest yet.

Today is the trade day where visitors can wander around the various brand stalls and check out all the shiny new watersports toys. This will be rounded off by a party and charity auction tonight.

Saturday and Sunday will see the majority of racing taking place with the night windsurf and party finishing up the day. Proceedings will then be rounded off on Sunday.

There is a bit of disruption for anyone looking to visit Beachlands (who isnt interested in the festival) and traffic may become heavy onto the island as racers head to the event this evening.

For residents looking to have a bash at any of these sports then theres the opportunity to get involved with taster sessions provided by Portsmouth Watersports.

More information about the event and the subsidised locals taster sessions can be found on the NWF site http://nationalwatersportsfestival.com/
