June 28 will see 75 kayakers take on the 18 mile circumnavigation of Hayling Island in aid of charity. Now in its third year the RNLI organised charity challenge will raise money for deserving causes last years paddle achieved 4000 although its hoped that figure will be smashed in 2014.
The brain child of Martyn Elliot Perry Dodgson and Mark Pannell; the idea for a round Hayling paddle came about because of Marks love of the sport. After speaking with the other two who confirmed they were really up for it the challenge was decided.
This year sees a 75 year old and 14 year old taking on the distance proving its an event for all comers and ages. Two stop offs will be available for weary paddlers to catch their breath. Kayakers will be resting up at Langstone Sailing Club and The Inn on the Beach before making the final push for base.
Rounding off with a BBQ drinks and live band at the Hayling RNLI station this is one event not to be missed.
