The weekend is shaping up to be a similar affair to that of last with buffeting winds and heavy rain. Tomorrow and Saturday are looking likely to be wet with downpours expected right through the day while Saturday will see strong to gale force winds in the afternoon.
Weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office for wet weather while heavy surf is expected to be driven right up the English Channel. With bigger tides than last weekend its thought there may be an increased risk of coastal flooding.
The Met Office chief forecaster said: An area of low pressure currently developing over the Atlantic Ocean is likely to track close to or across southern England later Friday and early Saturday bringing with it a spell of wet weather.
Rain is expected to be the main hazard associated with this depression 15mm to 30mm rain likely quite widely (locally 40mm) in the area marked yellow in the Alert. English Channel coastal areas will also be windy for a time with gales and gusts up to 60 miles an hour.
Large waves generated by this depression and a subsequent depression crossing the UK this weekend combined with increasing tidal heights lead to an increased risk of coastal flooding along the English Channel coast this weekend.
So its another period for battening down the hatches!
