Marcus Gaines a 36 year old self-confessed funfair fanatic believes hes made it into the record books by riding the dodgems for 26 hours and 45 seconds.
Having visited more than 1000 rollercoasters worldwide the challenge seemed a logical decision for the fan of all things theme park.
After taking more than a year to organise the challenge was finally underway at Funland Amusements.
The result has left Marcus with a few bruises and a wonky knee due to being in the same position for hours on end and he was covered in black soot from sparks flying off the rubber bumper but the Southampton BBC cameraman was still overjoyed at the end of his mammoth dodgem stint.
Marcus commented: By the end of the 26 hours I was caked in black soot! My two year old son watched the last hour of the challenge and he couldnt even recognise me. Everyone gave me a big round of applause and the owners gave me champagne. I could not believe I had actually done it.
