Areas in Emsworth and Hayling Island are currently on stand-by to expect flooding during high tide at 12.30pm today (3rd January 2014) due to a combination of strong winds heavy rain high tides and large waves.
Whilst every effort is being made to ensure flooding is kept to a minimum residents are being asked to stay safe and not to visit areas where flooding is expected.
Havant Borough Council have Front line staff who are working in this area to assist people and are fully briefed regards to their own safety during this time. Residents are being urged to stay away from the promenade of Hayling Island for their own safety.
Residents are being advised only to travel if necessary but if they do have to travel on the roads to take extra care as flooding is expected.
If anyone sees flooding near electricity substations in residential areas they are asked to report it to Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) on 0800 072 72 82.
