An increase in patrols and a ramping up of training programmes is set to be implemented by Chichester Harbour Conservancy – the group who look after this stretch of water.
There will be an greater emphasis on providing first aid towing enforcing bylaws and the recovery of vessels which should help during busy parts of the year.
Harbour information officer Ali Beckett said: We plan to have additional boats on the water at certain times and so you should never be very far away from a harbour patrol RIB. After a highly successful pilot project last season we will also be providing more support at Emsworth and you will be able meet our teams there particularly on Saturday morning. Our patrol theme this year will be all about remembering safety. Our patrol teams will be searching out Safety Champions and helping to jog memories when necessary. If you have any questions they will be pleased to help.
She also added: Although Chichester Harbour is renowned for its safety we always try to improve our service this years developments are all in response to feedback from harbour users.
