Recent local authority funding cuts have hit Havant Borough Council hard. HBC will get 76% less in 2015 compared to their 2010 figure. Many are concerned funding will disappear altogether in four years with services having to be outsourced.

Havant Tory MP David Willets has rebuffed this thinking however stating Havant Borough has spent smartly. He believes public services will be protected moving forwards and is keen to point out that no government decision has been made to the pull funding plug.

Havants Liberal Democrat councillor Faith Ponsonby is concerned there are tough times ahead. She also said one idea to ensure key services are protected is to raise council tax. More volunteers will also be needed to make up the short fall – unfortunately volunteers are in short supply she says.
