Angie Driscoll of Bracklesham Road has expressed her fury over constant cold calling even in light of being signed up to the Telephone Preference Service which should halt these types of nuisance calls.

Mrs Driscoll told Hayling Today that she receives up to six calls per day with everything from PPI claims accident compensation and marketing services trying to be sold.

During one particularly bad spell Chris Driscoll Mrs Driscolls husband was recovering after a major operation and he was awoken several times with the phone ringing. Mr Driscoll was in need of extended rest and these calls caused unnecessary interruptions to his recovery.

Mrs Driscoll said: The last thing you want is the phone ringing with these people.

We had one particular day when I had a couple of text messages and four phone calls. I was just so cross because he had been woken up.

Mrs Driscoll added: The message is definitely not getting though. Particularly on international phone calls they just dont take any notice at all.

They say the same thing Hello is it a nice sunny day?
I dont want to have a trivial conversation with somebody I dont even know whos trying to sell me something that I dont even want in the first place.

Its wrong that we have to go to all these different lengths to get rid of these phone calls. You can get four or five in a day.

Its a damn nuisance.

Mrs Driscoll is calling for tough fines to be issued against companies who constantly hound households with nuisance calls.

If youre suffering from these types of calls and wish to make a complaint then direct your issue to the Information Commissioners Office at ico.org.uk/complaints/marketing or call 0303 123 1113.
