Sometimes all thats needed is a friendly face a hot cuppa and a pleasant natter. This is what Haylings Voluntary Service provides and its going from strength to strength – so much so that more befrienders are now needed.
For one reason or another more people on the island are in need of a chat and as such volunteers are still being sought. If you can spare a few hours then this would make a big difference to someones life. If youre able to take part in the programme then get in touch as word is spreading fast.
All volunteers are vetted thoroughly by the Disclosure and Barring Service which ensures that anyone having visits from befrienders will be safe.
As well as the befriending service theres also a need for anyone with time and transport to spare who can run patients to the hospital and take people for visits to the doctor. All fuel costs will be covered.
