Plans to bring across the Terrier Tank Engine locomotive from the Isle of Wight for the HB50 anniversary weekend in November have halted due to insufficient funding.
During the course of a number of meetings the exercise was given the go ahead and the IoW Steam Railway management agreed on the loan subject to shipping costs paid by HB50.
Fund raising was officially launched in April of this year with the location of the locomotive pencilled in for Eastokes seafront. Havant Borough Council was in support of the idea with final approval just needing to be signed off.
Unfortunately an announcement was put on the HB50 website yesterday stating that funds to secure the return of the Terrier Tank Engine to Hayling have been unsuccessful. Regrettably plans have now had to be abandoned. All contributions to date will be returned.
